As much as All American may have wanted to turn Spencer and Olivia's wedding into an obstacle that had the duo wondering if they would actually manage to walk down the aisle on their wedding day, this ceremony's inevitability just made every obstacle in its way is a frustrating, unnecessary blow.

Season six makes good on its central love story by finally giving Olivia and Spencer their wedding, and with a ceremony that highlights Crenshaw's love and respect for Spencer. After a season of questions regarding Spencer's NFL career and if he and Olivia would find their proper footing, "I Do (Part II)" concludes with a finale that gives Spencer everything he ever wanted.

Although their venue is gone, Spencer is inspired by the history of their relationship and determines their wedding can take place at his childhood home, where Spencer took charge to make sure that he and Olivia had a ceremony they could enjoy. But, it is Spencer's friends and family who surprise Spencer and Olivia with a large reception that offers them the chance at a first dance as husband and wife and several spotlight moments that celebrate them.

Of course, Olivia and Spencer are not the only ones walking away from the season finale on a winning high. Laura's determination that it is time to walk away from her house answers Jordan and Layla's house-hunting conflict by giving the two a house they know they can call home. Coop even was accepted to two law schools with the season concluding on the uncertain note of if Coop would stay at GAU or move to Yale.

But, where does the season finale fall short? Jaymee and AJ are once again not present for the wedding. But, in this case, even Asher has almost nothing to do either. Given that his personal and professional lives are already set up, there are no burning questions surrounding his storyline, and Asher basically exists in the background of the episode, appearing where needed but never directly dealt with.

Patience falls into a similar trap. She is present, but All American does not allow her character to add much to this episode other than celebrating Coop's success with law school acceptances. It is not entirely clear if Patience is planning to remain in New York City, or if she has plans to return to California. Given the uncertainty of who is officially returning for All American's seventh season, "I Do (Part II)" does not bother to clear it up. Instead, both of their futures are left hanging to wait until season seven to be addressed.

As Olivia looks back on the series of obstacles that prevented her and Spencer from getting together, hindsight reflects on a questionable decision to reflect on season one's growing love triangle between Olivia, Spencer, and Layla.

Having Layla apologize to Olivia for being an obstacle in Olivia and Spencer's relationship makes no sense in the context of the show, and having Olivia look back on those events as if they were makes even less sense.

In season one, although Spencer and Olivia do have a strong connection, Spencer does have a romantic interest in Layla and actively pursues a relationship with her. Having Layla apologize to Olivia because Spencer chose to date Layla is a confusing choice that does not need to be a part of the episode to get across Olivia's point that she and Spencer have not had an easy road to marriage.

As for questions regarding who may be stepping up to be centered on as All American's potential next generation, it appears that Deion and Amina may be key to that next group. But, unfortunately, they appear far too infrequently and are too underwritten to appear as strong leading characters in an already established series. All American, if they are going the route of the next generation, may be better off introducing a brand new slew of teenagers, including one who can fit into Jordan's narrative of Crenshaw's QB Coaching role if Jordan and Layla are sticking around next season.

Jordan is one of the only characters to end the season with a specific loose end in the narrative, as he questions having an uncle he never knew about. It is a last minute plot thread addition, and one that has no narrative value with Jordan and Layla are not included in season seven's main storylines.

As a send-off for Spencer, "I Do (Part II)" succeeds in completing a narrative that has allowed him to reach all of his dreams, get married to the love of his life, and be respected by his community. Spencer's journey has been one filled with highs, lows, love, and heartbreak. But his determination and big heart have been the key to being the soul of All American since the beginning.

No matter what All American does next, Spencer James will always be one of the biggest hearts of the series, and the show made the right choice to give him a well-deserved happy ending.
