New Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame: Revisit Iron Claw Actor Zac Efron Previous Film Roles
From dancing and singing on the basketball court in his breakout role, Zac Efron was known as Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel High School Musical franchise. Then he was starring in dramas such as Charlie St. Cloud, and The Lucky One before acting in the summer comedy Neighbors, and later The Greatest Showman.
While the Iron Claw star Zac Efron received an official star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and to celebrate let’s revisit some of his standout film roles that are utterly unforgettable!
Hairspray (2007)
16 years ago amidst the height of the first High School Musical film and before The Greatest Showman. Zac Efron stars as a popular high schooler and teen celebrity Link Larkin in a 2007 reboot of the 1988 film adaptation based on the Broadway musical Hairspray. Efron’s charismatic performance in this 2007 film version of Hairspray reminds me of improvement in his singing since the first High School Musical.
17 Again (2009)
Post-High School Musical, Efron stars as another charismatic 17-year-old (previous to other roles that were mentioned) in a body-switch comedy alongside the late Matthew Perry who played the 30-something-year-old Mike O’Donnell about a popular high school athlete (sounds familiar) who has his future set in stone until his girlfriend shares some news which the change course of Mike’s life.
That Awkward Moment (2014)
An R-rated romantic comedy about three close male friends who find themselves where we’ve all been at that confusing moment in every dating relationship when you have to decide “So…where is this going?” Efron stars alongside Teller and Jordan who feed off each other for comedic relief and on-screen chemistry. But, what stood out is Zac Efron playing the likable charismatic douche with redeemable qualities (sounds familiar to a 2011 film where he star alongside an assembled cast).
We Are Your Friends (2015)
It is understandable why this film has 6.2 out of 10 on IMDb, but Zac Efron plays an aspiring DJ who attempts to chase a path in life that leads to fame and fortune, opposite from his role as the college fraternity party boy Teddy Sanders in the 2014 comedy Neighbors and before the second installment of the 2014 comedy. Efron’s performance in this film was a nice refresher to watch and stay long for the ending while reminding Efron’s previous roles in The Lucky One and Charlie St Cloud.
