May 12 will go down as the ultimate bloodbath on The CW and at the end of the day, one of the victims of cancellation was Roswell, New Mexico. Considering this reboot ended up being just as loved as the original series (in many ways), this is the kind of ending we never wanted to see happen.

The news of the cancellation, which was shared by TVLine, came down at the same time as we learned of other fan-favorite CW shows getting the ax. As we gear up for the fourth season of Roswell to premiere on June 6, we know that once the season is over, so is the series. For us, this is devastating news as we have once again fallen in love with the stories of Liz, Max, Michael, Isabel, and the rest of the Roswell gang.

Since the reboot’s premiere, Roswell, New Mexico has consistently delivered stories that we compelling, interesting, and diverse. The fact that the characters themselves were also diverse was something that helped to make it stand out from the crowd on The CW. And of course, the fact that it also started with a truly timely storyline that included a look at immigration struggles and citizenship made the show even more special.

Roswell, New Mexico will not get a fifth season on The CW

As someone who has covered the series since the beginning, this news is especially sad as we have so many things we wanted to see happen on the show. From the relationship between Michael and Alex to Liz and Max finally getting their act together, there are a lot of things that need to happen in Season 4 for us to feel like the show is getting the end it deserves.

There are so many storylines that we want to see wrapped up and even if the show doesn’t answer every question, we can only hope that this news broke in enough time for the creators of Roswell, New Mexico to give us a finale that satisfies the viewers, who will be left wishing for more.
