Taylor Swift

Shifting over to musicians, 2020 was the year Taylor Swift gained the right to re-record to her old music and dropped two surprise studio albums — so, yeah, we wouldn’t mind if she continued this upswing well into 2021. If folklore and evermore are anything to judge by, Swift’s music career may be reaching its highest point yet.

In 2021, we’d love to hear some of her re-recorded old music, but it would also be great to see her embracing her newer sound and adding even more music to her reservoir.

Harry Styles

Singer-songwriter Harry Styles caught everyone’s attention when he modeled for the cover of Vogue last year, challenging gender norms and showing off a stunning dress that was the talk of the internet (for good reason).

Styles also kicked off the new year with a new music video, which sees him dancing with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (an iconic duo if we ever saw one). Hopefully, the video for “Treat People With Kindness” was just the beginning of Styles’ plans for the year. (If anything, it’s the kind of energy we need to take into 2021 with us.)

Cardi B

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion broke the internet with their 2020 hit “WAP,” which sparked TikTok trend upon TikTok trend (and some outrage if you’re hanging out in the wrong circles). She was also named Billboard Woman of the Year, and we can all agree with Carl Lamarre’s sentiment that “her unapologetic voice resonated far and wide in 2020 when the world needed it most.”

It’s not just Cardi B’s amazing music that makes us admire her and want to see more of what she’s up to either. Over the past couple of years, she’s made her voice heard in the political sphere, even hopping on Instagram live streams to hangout with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and discuss policy. Honestly, the two of them are adorable together, so we’d be game to just see more of their conversations going forward.

(But let’s be real, we wouldn’t complain if we got another smash hit like “WAP” this year either.)

Billie Eilish

Billy Eilish swept the Grammy Awards at the beginning of 2020, snagging all four of the biggest honors of the evening and becoming the youngest person to do so. She went on to record the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die, and also released “Therefore I Am,” which became an instant TikTok hit.

Given that there’s another Grammys ceremony fast approaching and No Time to Die hits theaters this year, we’ll likely be seeing and hearing more of Billie Eilish in coming months. We’d love to get some new music from her as well, and it’s evidently something she’s been working on  (Fingers crossed we get it sometime this year.)
