Billie Eilish’s No Time to Die track drops just in time for some Valentine’s Day blues.

It’s been a month since news of Billie Eilish gearing up to lend her style to the title track for the latest Bond film, No Time to Die, rocked the web, and now the track is finally out!

Coming on the heels of the award-winning success of Adele’s “Skyfall” and Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall,” Billie has big shoes to fill when it comes to adding her contribution to the Bond theme legacy. But in true fashion, she and her brother, Finneas, have penned a track that fits smoothly into the sound and feel of the Bond franchise whilst still capturing their own uniqueness.

Check out “No Time to Die” in the video below:

“No Time to Die” is a haunting love song that delves into the betrayal Bond is set to face in his next venture. The movie picks up where Spectre left off. Bond chose a quiet life with Dr. Madeleine Swann. No longer 007, he was enjoying his peace until his friend, Felix Leiter, asks for his help with a case involving a kidnapped scientist and a dangerous technology that’s fallen into the hands of a villain.

The peace Bond had is gone, and his relationship with Madeleine begins to unravel as he becomes aware of her lies and deception. As producer Barbara Broccoli told EW, “He decided to go off with her and try to have a normal life. Which, of course, we completely blow a hole through at the beginning of this one. He starts off on a romantic journey with Madeleine and then believes that he’s been betrayed by her.”

Billie’s song uses a quiet melody that drips with cool as it sweeps through the track, swelling as the depths of betrayal are revealed. Hans Zimmer and Mark Dunkley add their magic to “No Time to Die,” giving the track the traditional soaring lifts that fans of Bond have become accustomed to, and Johnny Marr of The Smiths can be heard on guitar.

While “No Time to Die” is about betrayal, it’s also defiant. The song opens with the lyrics, “I should have known I’d leave alone/Just goes to show that the blood you bleed is just the blood you owe,” and ends with the outro, “Fool me once, fool me twice/Are you death or paradise?/Now you’ll never see me cry/There’s just no time to die.”

Bond is hurt, but he’s certainly not down for the count. No Time to Die premieres April 10.

Next. Lashana Lynch to play 007 in upcoming James Bond film, and we could not be more excited. dark
