Here’s what has us most excited from the PlayStation 5 announcement
Sony announced the release date, price, and games coming to the PlayStation 5, and we couldn’t be more excited for everything that’s on its way
Gamers had a great week when it came to PlayStation 5 announcements. Unless you were mixed up in the preorders debacle. (Spoiler alert: I was).
Regardless of the issues with preordering the new console, though, the PlayStation 5 Showcase Sony held on Wednesday was awesome.
If you missed the showcase, you can catch it here:
Sony dropped so much more information than even I anticipated. Among the best news were the price points and release date. For the full version, it’s $499.00, and for the digital edition (the one without a disc drive), it’s $399.99. The PlayStation 5 releases on November 12 in the U.S., Canada, and Japan, and it releases on November 19 for the rest of the world.
We also got a much deeper look at Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which is a launch title (and also coming to the PS4). If you enjoyed Marvel’s Spider-Man that released in 2018, you’re going to like this one. It looks so good. There’s definitely a familiar feel to the gameplay, although given Miles’ different powers from Peter Parker, combat will have a new twist to it.
You can bet I’m excited to turn invisible and venom shock some bad guys.
Demon’s Souls Remastered immediately made my husband angry just given that it’s Demon’s Souls. This is also a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and is a must-buy for any Dark Souls fans. Unless you’d prefer to not throw your new PlayStation 5 out the window an hour or so after buying it.

We were also given a bit more of Deathloop and what exactly that might entail. Unfortunately, it’s been delayed until Q2 of 2021, so it’ll be a while before we have a chance to play it. And the story trailer for VILLAGE: Resident Evil looks like the game will give us nightmares after playing it.
The best/worst tease of the whole launch was the hint at the God of War sequel, possibly titled Ragnarok. Mostly because it showed us absolutely nothing!
Now, technically Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t a launch title because it’s coming out seven days after the PlayStation 5’s release. But it’s close enough. We also did not get any additional information on Horizon: Forbidden West, the sequel to Zero Dawn. That one surprised me, but I’m sure we’ll hear something come holiday this year.
