Neve Campbell is returning to Woodsboro as the infamous Sidney Prescott in Spyglass and Paramount’s Scream 5.

Shortly after news broke that Spyglass and Paramount’s Scream 5 was being pushed to 2022, Scream’s main star Neve Campbell officially signed on to play Sidney Prescott once again, making the wait a little more bearable. After fulfilling the main role in the four previous films, it’s hard to imagine this franchise without her, so fans can breathe easy now that the main star of the film is back. And it’s going to be good.

Campbell is ecstatic to be back as Sidney, and specifically to “return to Woodsboro.”

Campbell will join David Arquette (Dewey Riley) and Courteney Cox (Gail Weathers), both of whom are also legacy cast members of the franchise. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have been announced as the directors and James Vanderbilt as the screenplay writer.

More from Movies

The current cast and crew are just as excited for Sidney Prescott’s return as Campbell herself. Radio Silence, the filmmaking group that’s producing the fifth installation of the Scream series, released a statement about Campbell’s return: “We’re pinching ourselves! It’s hard to express how much the character Sidney Prescott shaped our love of movies, and to have the chance to work with Neve is truly a dream come true. It just wouldn’t be a Scream movie without Neve, and we’re so excited and honored to join her in Woodsboro.”

Scream 5 has not officially been named yet, so we eagerly anticipate news of that. Filming for the newest Scream rendition will begin in Wilmington, North Carolina, and will be produced by franchise creator Kevin Williamson and Radio Silence’s Chad Villella.
