Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 7: Fitz’s return is imminent
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has missed one of its original members in its final season. The good news is that his arrival is on the way.
We haven’t seen Fitz since the season six finale of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. And while we’ve had a fun addition to the SHIELD team (nice to see you again, Sousa!), when half of FitzSimmons is missing, it feels like the heart of the team is missing.
Yes, I’ve already theorized about this. And yes, I’ve already complained that Agents of SHIELD dips into the “let’s keep FitzSimmons apart” well far too often.
In chatting with Marvel, Elizabeth Henstridge promised that we will have plenty of answers “in the next couple of episodes.” And that does include some from Fitz himself. Here’s her full statement below:
"“I know, there are so many questions! So, yes, we’re going to find out more about where he is and why — and some of that information is going to come from Jemma … We’ll find out more in the next couple of episodes. And some of the information… will come directly from Fitz. That’s all I can say!”"
This week’s episode saw her recording a video for Fitz in case they needed to disembark from the Zephyr, and the preview for next week’s episode has the team stuck in a time loop on the Zephyr.
Now, Elizabeth Henstridge’s comment says that some of the information will come from Fitz. But… that doesn’t necessarily sound like we’re going to see a living, breathing Fitz. What if it’s just a video recording? Something that pops up in case of emergency or at the end of their travels?
Our theories about FitzSimmons have been all over the board this season. We still know very little about Fitz’s whereabouts, just that he’s somewhere where he can watch the Chronicoms but he’s completely exposed. And it’s so dangerous that Simmons invented a device to suppress her memories of it.
Iain De Caestecker was absent at the start of last season’s Agents of SHIELD, too. De Caestecker does have a career outside of our Marvel show; it’s just such a bummer that in its final season, we will only have Fitz for the last few episodes.
The answers need to be good, as we’ve now sat through eight episodes with little insight as to where Agents of SHIELD placed Fitz for this final season.
