Pink has announced that she and her son tested positive for COVID-19 but have since recovered. Following her experience, she’s donating $1 million to the healthcare professionals fighting the disease.

Since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began, many celebrities have gone public about testing positive for the disease, including Tom Hanks and Idris Elba. But while some famous faces have been open about their diagnoses, just as many have understandably chosen to keep it private — including Pink, at least until this weekend.

On Friday evening, Pink took to Twitter to inform her fans that she and her three-year-old son had tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago. The good news? During that time, they’ve both already recovered — and now the singer is using her platform to help the healthcare professionals fighting the disease.

In her two-part Twitter post, Pink lamented the difficulties many are having getting tested, calling it “an absolute travesty and failure of our government.” She emphasized the importance of taking COVID-19 seriously, as well as how crucial it is for everyone to have access to testing.

Following that, Pink announced her plans to donate $1 million “to support the healthcare professionals who are battling on the frontlines every day.” Half of those funds are going toward the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia, Penn., and the other half will be given to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.

Both of these organizations hold some meaning to Pink, as her mother worked at Temple University Hospital for 18 years, and the singer currently lives in Los Angeles.

Pink is one of many celebrities to donate in an effort to help fight COVID-19. Some, like Pink and Rihanna, are giving money to organizations that need it, while others are stepping up to make medical masks and protective gear. No matter which camp these celebrities fall into, it’s undeniable that their aid is helping save lives — and proving that we’re all in this together.
