Katy Keene is getting a crossover with Riverdale prior to its premiere

Before Katy Keene ever hits our screens in February, it looks like we are getting the Riverdale crossover we have been hoping for.

For fans of Archie comics, the news that we would be getting a Katy Keene series has been the gift that keeps on giving. Not only do we love the idea of Lucy Hale taking on the titular role, but we will finally see Josie McCoy getting more of the spotlight than she ever really sees on Riverdale.

However, there is one thing we have been hoping to see above all else, and that is a crossover. And it turns out that we actually are getting one before the series even premieres.

According to E! News, Lucy Hale will be heading to Riverdale for an episode that sees Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica, heading to New York City for a college interview. (So, while Hale might be on Riverdale, she won’t actually be in Riverdale.) In the episode, Veronica and Katy spend time together and go on a shopping spree, while also taking the time to talk about life and love.

While Katy Keene is set five years in the future (and not on the same timeline as the Riverdale we are watching now), this is a great way to not only introduce the character, but also remind everyone that all of these characters exist within the Archie Comics Universe.

We love the idea of seeing Veronica meeting up with an old friend. And even more, we love the fact that the friend is Katy Keene. Considering one of the episodes of Riverdale already referenced Katy as being into fashion and being able to get her hands on costumes, we were hoping that the show would give us more than just a name drop.

And while this crossover might be happening before Katy even gets her show, it is actually happening just one day before the series premiere. While Veronica and Katy will have their time together in an episode of Riverdale scheduled for Feb. 5, Katy Keene is set to premiere the next day on Feb. 6.

This is honestly what I have been waiting for all season, because it just felt like Riverdale wouldn’t leave us hanging without actually introducing Katy Keene to everyone at least once. And now that we know when it is happening, I can’t wait for this episode to arrive so we can all meet Katy and her brand of fashion and adventure.
