Last week, Titans left us on a tense cliffhanger. Despite the title of this week’s episode, we hope we’ll get some resolution for the bird in distress.

Annoying Rachel, calling her names, and getting restrained by Dick wasn’t enough punishment for Jason Todd last week. We’ve had a lot of time to brood over the conclusion to TitansGhosts,” and we’re still apprehensive about Jason’s fate. Thankfully, we have some theories on how Titans might resolve that steep cliffhanger.

It’s nearly impossible to forget last week’s happenings. In case you did forget, though, we have a brief recap on all the stakes and drama.

After Jason convinced Garfield to tag along on his side mission to find Dr. Light, Jason came face to face with a more grave threat. Granted, even the villain with the power of illumination landed several punches on Jason. And, by the way, can we take a moment to appreciate that Light has a heavy left swing hiding beyond all that flashy showmanship? (Yes, pun very intended.)

We still have the reprieve that Jason might annoy Deathstroke until he lets him go. However, we know Jason and Slade. Slade is a skilled strategist. It’s sort of one of his metahuman abilities. Though Jason isn’t a meta, being persistent (for better or for worse) is an unofficial superpower for the dude.

Jason will fight until he doesn’t have any more fight left in him. Against an opponent like Slade Wilson — uh, well, he doesn’t have a chance. However, Jason isn’t alone. Unlike the overly confident hero, Garfield has been paying attention during his training sessions. He’s also taught himself how to transform into animals other than a tiger.

Though there are dozens of variables that we’ll never be able to theorize, Jason only needs to distract Deathstroke and Dr. Light long enough for Garfield to save him. With Jason’s very punchable persona, that won’t be difficult to accomplish. Sure, it’ll come at the expense of his face and a lot more injuries, but that beats Slade’s plot.

Though DC Universe has modified these characters a bit and added fresh stories to their canon, we still know these characters. Knowing Deathstroke, he’s using Jason to lure the Titans into a trap. You wouldn’t want to kill your bait until you’ve caught the big fish. So even if things look grim for Jay right now, there’s still the silver lining that Jason isn’t Slade’s primary target.

With a battered bird and a flashback on our list of apprehensions this week, it isn’t looking great for Jason Todd. A title like “Aqualad” might mean we’ll get a second dose of cliffhangers. Despite our worries, Jason isn’t dead yet, so that’s some form of reprieve for this week’s episode. Right?
