In a new clip for Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man makes Mysterio an Avenger. Should Spider-Man trust him that much?

The trailers for Spider-Man: Far From Home has been posing Mysterio as a true ally who Spider-Man can trust. But we definitely couldn’t have seen Spider-Man trusting Mysterio so much that he makes him an Avenger.

Oh yes, in one of the latest clips for Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker actually allows Mysterio, Quentin Beck, to become part of the Avengers. My mind is immediately going “Wait, that’s illegal,” and for good reason.

But first, you can see Peter Parker make this gigantic mistake in the clip below.

The alarm bells are going off for plenty of reasons with this move. One of those being, does Peter even have the right to make Mysterio an Avenger? Maybe a few months ago, that would have been Captain America or Iron Man’s call. But surely, there has to be someone more senior than him who’s allow to make these decisions. Perhaps, say, the founder of the Avengers Initiative, Nick Fury? Fury’s certainly not super old like Cap or… super dead like Iron Man, so it’d probably be better if he were making the decisions around here instead of naive teenager Peter Parker.

Second, Peter’s about to make a huge mistake because we still can’t trust Mysterio as far as we can throw him. Maybe Far From Home will actually pull a Captain Marvel and let the bad guy be a good guy for once. But comic book history tells us Mysterio is never one to be trusted. Just think what would happen if Mysterio were to learn all the Avengers’ secrets? At least that’d make for one heck of a Sinister Six movie.

When speaking about Mysterio in an interview for the movie, Tom Holland revealed that Spider-Man and Mysterio will indeed be pretty close friends. Despite Quentin Beck being older, he won’t serve as a mentor to Peter the way Tony Stark was. Instead, Spider-Man will finally get a crime-fighting partner in Mysterio. But of course, as we’re still highly suspicious, we’ll see how long this dynamic duo lasts.
