Quentin Tarantino snaps at reporter over valid questions on Margot Robbie’s role in OUATIH

At a press conference to talk about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino snapped at a reporter when asked about Margot Robbie’s role.

Quentin Tarantino clearly doesn’t like being questioned about why Sharon Tate, a character who the movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood supposedly focuses a lot of energy on, wasn’t more prominent.

During a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, the director snapped at a reporter who dared to ask why Margot Robbie, who plays Tate, had such a limited role. Tarantino’s response?

“I reject your hypothesis.”

Alrighty then…

To add to this fiasco, other critiques have questioned how much Margot Robbie is actually in the film. Robbie is, arguably, the biggest star in that film currently. Yes, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are huge names but Robbie is in high demand. From her latest Harley Quinn movie to recently coming off an Oscar nomination for I, Tonya, she is truly one of our biggest stars out there. She’s even producing her own shows to boot.

And for a movie that, supposedly, focuses on a time where Sharon Tate was a big star like Robbie herself, we all were under the assumption that she’d have a big role. So to hear that that is even a question at a press conference is concerning.

But Tarantino’s reaction may be a bit more damning. As stated before, he didn’t agree with the “hypothesis” that Robbie didn’t have much to say or do within the film. And it isn’t made any better by Robbie’s response.

"“I think the moments I was on screen gave a moment to honor Sharon. I think the tragedy was the loss of innocence. To show the wonderful sides of her could be done without speaking. I did feel like I got a lot of time to explore the character without dialogue, which is an interesting thing. Rarely do I get an opportunity to spend so much time on my own as a character.”"

Margot Robbie is pointing out that she can do a lot without dialogue with Sharon Tate.

But… why wouldn’t Sharon Tate have dialogue? Hence the reporter’s question to Tarantino is valid, and we’ve yet to get a decent response. (Granted, we doubt we ever will.)

dark. Next. Margot Robbie gives us Harley Quinn vibes in the new Terminal trailer

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood comes out this July and it is certainly going to be interesting to see how much Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate is involved in the film.
