On Wednesday, Vanity Fair gave a glimpse at some of the newest faces in the galaxy in their “Ultimate Preview” of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

For their Summer 2019 issue, Vanity Fair is giving us the “ultimate preview” of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Episode XI, which will be released this December, will be the final installment of the current trilogy and will bring the journey’s of Rey and Kylo Ren to a climax.

The film will also introduce some new faces, including a new droid named D-O and a banana slug named Klaud. Vanity Fair also confirmed that Keri Russell and Richard E. Grant are amongst the newest cast members. Russell is “the masked scoundrel Zorri Bliss, seen in Thieves’ Quarter of the snow-dusted world Kijmi”, while Grant will appear as Allegiant General Pryde, shown in Annie Liebowitz’s photographs on the bridge of Kylo Ren’s destroyer.

Naomi Ackie is also featured in Vanity Fair‘s photographs, shown alongside Finn (played by John Boyega) charging into battle on the backs of orbaks (essentially epic space horses). The details of all three characters remain unknown, but it appears that Ackie’s character, Jannah, will fight with the Resistance, while Grant’s character, General Pryde, is a military man for the First Order. Russell’s character remains a mystery.

After surviving Avengers: Endgame and the Game of Thrones finale, we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to Rey, Finn and everyone else we’ve come to love in the modern Star Wars world. Thankfully, we have until December to say our farewells, and these photos are making it both easy and hard to wait until then.

Now, of course, Lucasfilm isn’t done making Star Wars movies, but we will have a break from the trilogies for awhile, with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (authors of that infamous final season of Game of Thrones) tapped to write the next trilogy starting in 2022.

Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to this year, with Galaxy’s Edge opening in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World over the summer, and The Rise of Skywalker set to released in December.
