Should Captain America be a part of the new Loki series?

There is a lot of excitement over the new Loki series heading to Disney+, but some fans wondered how the show would work after the character’s death in Infinity War. Now the question is, what about Captain America?

When it comes to fan-favorite characters in the MCU, Loki is definitely one who comes out near the top of the list. Considering he was once a villain going up against the Avengers, having his story arc transform him into a likable anti-hero means that many of us want to see more of him on our screens.

And while the character was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War (before the snap even happened), there was a sense of disappointment that this would be the last time we saw Loki getting up to mischief. When we learned about the Disney+ series revolving around the character, many of us were excited for more Loki, even as we wondered how this would work.

Now thanks to Avengers: Endgame and directors Anthony and Joe Russo, we have some idea of what to expect. According to Business Insider, during an interview with the Russos, they explained that once Loki teleported away with the Time Stone, he was able to create a new timeline. This means that past Loki is currently creating his very own alternate universe.

And if we learned anything in Endgame, it is that alternate timelines are not really a good thing, which is why Captain America was tasked with putting all the borrowed Infinity Stones back in their time once they defeated Thanos. However, that still leaves one rogue Infinity Stone out in the universe thanks to Loki.

This begs the question of whether or not Captain America will be a part of the new Loki series. After all, it was his job to restore the Infinity Stones to where they belong in the original timeline. And it seems likely that the new series will feature the past Loki causing mischief in the alternate timeline he has created.

It would make sense to have Cap chasing Loki, trying to get the Infinity Stone back in order to restore the timelines and natural order. However, at the same time, it doesn’t seem right to have Captain America being part of the Loki series. Instead, it makes more sense for us to see Thor popping up or even the Hulk. After all, these three have had their own adventures together and of course, Thor is his brother.

On a personal level, I don’t think Captain America should be a part of the new Loki series, because it doesn’t feel right to have it be a show about the first Avenger trying to capture the God of Mischief. Plus, Cap has already created his own disturbance in the universe by not returning to the time when he left to replace the stones in order to create a life with Peggy. It doesn’t make sense to have him running after Loki when he is doing something similar by creating a different timeline for his own happiness.

At the same time, it would be cool to see different members of the Avengers making an appearance or two (as long as it made sense and left Loki as the star) — whether this means having Cap show up in a single episode to try to find the Time Stone or even having the Hulk chase after him. But honestly, Loki can carry the series all on his own.

Although, we don’t know if there are currently plans to have Captain America pop up in the Disney+ series, it could make sense based on what the Russo brothers have said. Maybe the directors knew exactly what they were doing, and set us up for an interesting time heist situation with both characters that will be a lot more fun than we can imagine.
