How long is Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5?

If you’re expecting a more normal-sized episode of Game of Thrones tonight, you’re sorely mistaken, or perhaps you’re more pleasantly surprised.

A lot can happen in an episode of Game of Thrones, particularly as we approach the final two episodes of the series. One need only look back to last week’s “The Last of the Starks” as evidence for how much can be packed into less than 90 minutes.

But how much will the showrunners pack into this episode, which will be directed by Miguel Sapochnik? Unlike Sapochnik’s previous episode this season, “The Long Night,” we really don’t know much about the kind of battle we’re going to get from the photos released. What we do know is that there’s supposed to be a battle for King’s Landing, or at least that we’re supposed to be thinking that way, and that Sapochnik has one hour and 20 minutes to show off whatever ends up actually happening.

That’s a pretty decent amount of time, and judging by the preview we got, it’s going to be another tense period of time for fans. Will it be quite as tense as “The Long Night”? Will it surpass the battle for Winterfell?

We don’t know, but we’re still excited to find out, missteps in season 8 aside. The time for excitement is now; the time for criticism and analysis will come after we’ve absorbed whatever Sapochnik, Dave Benioff, and Dan Weiss have come up with together. Trust that Culturess has your back on that, too, with immediate reactions to some of the episode’s biggest moments and more on Sunday night, with more to follow throughout the week, all the way up until the big series finale next Sunday, May 19.

This is it, Game of Thrones fans. Well, it’s been it all season, but Emilia Clarke‘s discussion of this episode makes us think that this is perhaps the one you’re going to need to watch live. We’ll find out tonight.
