Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may want a little prince or princess soon

With the royal wedding over, the next countdown for fans of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is the arrival of a prince or princess.

It seems like it was just yesterday that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were saying “I do” in front of their family, friends, and well, the world. Though the two are on their honeymoon, the royal family fever has not quelled for the masses. Their first official appearance as Duke and Duchess of Sussex was eagerly awaited. Plus we can’t wait to see Markle set out on her first solo royal engagement with Queen Elizabeth when she returns from her honeymoon.

We also can’t wait for the possibility of some little royal news, and Us Weekly exclusively reports that could possibly come sooner than we think.

The magazine, quoting a source close to Markle, says the Duke and Duchess are eager to bring a little prince or princess into the world.

“Having children is definitely a priority,” Us Weekly reports via the source. “She and Harry want to start a family right away — and she’ll start trying as soon as she can.”

The couple spoke about growing their family as early as last November during a BBC interview. Harry said, “You know one step at a time. Hopefully, we’ll start a family in the near future.”

A royal insider who also spoke with Us Weekly adds while the two do want children, they “won’t rush into anything.” Plenty of royal duties await them once they return from the honeymoon. Markle on her own will become a Patron of The Royal Foundation Forum, and there is that road trip she’s about to take with the Queen.

That source notes that “they both think that when the moment feels right, that will be the time to go for it. They’ll make fantastic parents.”

As of now, the two will be cozied up at Nottingham Cottage in London. The royal insider shares that while the home is great for two, the royal couple will likely move on to their larger home, the $5.4 million Great Tew Estate in the Cotswolds, when the family grows. When Meghan and Harry move there, they’ll have a few famous parents to hang out with — David and Victoria Beckham. The two have a county getaway nearby. How cute would it be to see Harper playing with a little royal?

Now if their first bundle of joy is a prince, he would inherit the title, whereas if they were to have a girl, she would not. Perhaps as part of Markle’s goal to further women empowerment, she and Harry together could find a way to change this rule.

Changes have been made before regarding the rules of male and female heirs. In 2013 for example, the Succession to the Crown Act made it possible for Princess Charlotte to keep her spot in line to the crown. However, the gender-neutral rules have stayed the same and give preference to male heirs.
