Dancing with the Stars: Athletes season finale: Watch online
It was fun while it lasted, but Dancing with the Stars: Athletes will wrap up tonight. Here’s what you need to know to watch it online.
Honestly, while Dancing with the Stars: Athletes might have been a pretty wild ride, we wish the season could have lasted longer, much like judge Carrie Ann Inaba expressed last week. Although the remaining three have clearly improved, double or triple eliminations and four weeks both result in three of the more initially talented competitors making it to the finals. It’s not for nothing that two of the three finalists are figure skaters.
But here we are, at the finals nevertheless.
As has become routine since week 2, we’ll see two more performances from each couple tonight, as well as the traditional season-ending all-contestant number. Although the regular dances will come first, we’re far more interested in the freestyles. ABC has the details:
Freestyle
"Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson: “Scooby Doo Pa Pa” — DJ KassJosh Norman and Sharna Burgess: “Walk on Water” — Thirty Seconds to MarsTonya Harding and Sasha Farber: “I Will Survive” — The Pussycat Dolls"
“Walk on Water” from Josh and Sharna is kind of the outlier here; both other songs are a bit more inherently dance-worthy, so to speak. That doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily bad, though, for Josh and Sharna. In fact, it might be just what they need to stand out and capture the crown, because “Walk on Water” has plenty of drama in it.
As for the regular round of competition, here’s what to expect:
Foxtrot
"Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess: “Conqueror” by Empire cast feat. Estelle and Jussie Smollett"
Now there’s a mix of song style and dance style. Josh and Sharna may just have the most interesting dance card of the night between this and their freestyle. If they can pull it off, they might just take the Mirrorball Trophy away from the most obvious frontrunner.
Jazz
"Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson: “Anything You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun"
The press release for this finale points out that this round will reflect on the athletes’ time in the competition. We can’t think of a better song for Adam and Jenna.
Viennese Waltz:
"Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber: “The Time of My Life” — David Cook"
Nor can we think of a better song for Tonya and Sasha after all she’s said about how much this competition has meant to her.
