How to Get Away with Murder season 4 episode 14 preview: The Day Before He Died

Have you missed Wes on How to Get Away with Murder? Then you’re in luck, because this episode sees Alfred Enoch make a comeback.

It seems as though the writers of How to Get Away with Murder have decided that the way to get this show to improve in quality is to bring in characters we either have never seen, as was the case with last week’s episode, or bring back characters who are supposed to be dead, as with this week’s episode, “The Day Before He Died.”

Yes, the Wes storyline, convoluted though it may be, still won’t quit at all. Apparently, the show wants to reach some sort of conclusion, or at least another twist, before season 4 comes to an end later this month.

At least we get to see Alfred Enoch again, right? That’s something.

Here’s ABC’s official synopsis:

"Annalise helps the “Keating 4” concoct a plan to prepare for another round of questioning after detectives get a break involving Simon’s case. Meanwhile, Laurel discovers new details about the night Wes was killed which lead to a surprising confrontation."

Presumably, the “surprising confrontation” for Laurel is with her mother, because it’s not enough that Jorge Castillo is an antagonist. Sandrine Castillo has to be one, too. (Or maybe she’s totally innocent of anything to do with Wes’ death! That would probably be a surprise of its own, honestly.)

Meanwhile, to get things back to what we thought was the actual main plot of this show — that is, getting away with crimes up to and including murder — Simon Drake has not actually died yet, and is instead waking up, as we saw at the end of last week’s episode. If he starts telling the true story of what happened, then everyone is in trouble.

However, the wording suggests that it’s more than just Simon waking up that helps, although this synopsis did appear before last week’s episode. Ergo, it’s entirely possible that that’s all they mean when it comes to the plot in this week’s episode. However, we fully expect the flashbacks to take up most of the episode.
