Report: Wonder Woman 2 coming to save the day and film this summer

Wonder Woman should be back to save the day in 2019, but all the movie magic that goes into making the film might very well start sooner than that.

Although it would probably mean missing things like Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, skipping most of 2018 to get to 2019’s Wonder Woman 2 really doesn’t seem like a bad prospect at this point. Alas, it would also mean missing out on potential set photos and more things designed to excite fans even further, as CBR, citing Omega Underground, is reporting that it looks as though Wonder Woman 2 should start shooting in the U.K. this summer.

Before you suspect that that’s too long or too early for things to start, the production on the first Wonder Woman movie kicked off in November of 2015, then finished initial filming in May 2016, with reshoots in November 2016.

In other words, if this report is accurate, then there’s actually less production time for the sequel, since it has a November 2019 release date. Could that suggest there will be fewer locations to shoot at? As CBR notes, Wonder Woman took trips to France and Italy (parts of which stood in for Themyscira) as part of its production.

Alternatively, the possibility exists that Gal Gadot might have some other things on her schedule, like maybe lending her presence to other DC films like Shazam, and so that means her own movie needs a little less time. If that’s the case, hopefully Gadot’s schedule doesn’t impact anything too severely.

Finally, though, if production is starting soon, then it might be time to keep a very close eye on where and what Chris Pine and Robin Wright are doing, like how people know where Game of Thrones actors are down to snapping photos of them in a Starbucks. Whether or not Steve Trevor is coming back is still kind of a mystery — hope doesn’t die in the world of comic books — and, by the same token, Antiope could show up as well in cameo form.
