Game of Thrones season 7: Season finale photo analysis
The seventh season of Game of Thrones comes to an end this week, and there are nine photos to pore over between now and Sunday.
For all the talk of “The Dragon and the Wolf,” only one of the two characters most easily attributed to those animals is actually visible in the nine photos HBO has released in the run up to the Game of Thrones season 7 finale. In this case, who isn’t there is probably about as if not even more important than who is present.
But, it seems only fair to start with the person actually sitting on the Iron Throne at this point in time. She has had a coronation ceremony, after all.
Here’s Cersei and Jaime:

She is not even hiding that Jaime is the most important person to her anymore. Granted, his chair is far less fancy than hers, but he’s still sitting on the dais next to her while the members of her Queensguard stand. (Presumably, that’s the Mountain standing behind Cersei, just judging by the height.)

Here’s a closer look at the new fur stole Cersei has added to her wardrobe. Judging by the placement of her hands, we suspect she’s talking to Jaime here, too, reminding them about their baby.

How many photos of the Lannisters can we take? The answer is a lot, apparently. The look on Bronn’s face says a lot, doesn’t it? That’s the kind of look that says that they are in a lot of trouble.

Pictured: The trouble that Jaime and Bronn are in. I don’t think those are trees in the distance, if the preview is anything to go by…
Kit Harington as Jon Snow and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister – Photo: Macall B. Polay/HBO
Still more Lannisters, although this one is aligned with a different ruler. Jon Snow looks appropriately noble here, though I suppose we can’t quite call him King in the North anymore, can we?
Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy– Photo: Macall B. Polay/HBO
Theon looks sad.
That’s not new, really.
Is he coming back to Dragonstone again? Those do look like the cliffs surrounding the beach in the background.
Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark – Photo: Helen Sloan/HBO
Wait a second, Bran, staring in the flames is what the followers of R’hllor do! You’re the Three-Eyed Raven. Go back out to the godswood. (Is it just getting too cold in Winterfell to be outside?)
Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark – Photo: HBO
(Apparently not.) That’s an ice-cold look on Sansa Stark’s face, and that pun is very much intended here. The Lady of Winterfell is not pleased, and that probably means something is about to go down.

Game of Thrones certainly asked plenty of questions with these photos. What did you see?
