Get your knife and forks out, folks, because it’s time for roast. Okay, I’m sorry, it’s not that kind of roast, but sometimes the jokes tell themselves.

In this episode, the remaining queens get their shot to take their best jokes to a live audience. But these aren’t just your average “orange you glad I didn’t say banana?” run of the mill jokes. Instead, it’s a “roast” and that means that the queens will go ham on each other (or whatever floats their boats) with snark comments and witty banter. It’s basically what they do in the workroom, but this time, it’s for a live audience.

Now, before we get further on what I like to call, “the anatomy of a roast,” let’s check out the the synopsis below for the new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, “RuPaul Roast,” courtesy of TV Guide:

"The queens perform a comedy roast of RuPaul in front of a live audience."

Obviously, to pull off a good roast, you need to make your joke personal without jumping over that cringeworthy line. In comedy, we all know there are good jokes and the kind that give you pause as you wonder what on Earth that person was thinking. Because some jokes contain a lot of hot button issues and this happens to be a show about drag queens, I expect there to be a lot more sensitivity.

Of course, they’re going to riff on each other, but the winner’s probably going to be the one who can make the audience laugh while maintaining a level of tastefulness.
