Latest Wonder Woman trailer revs up the music and action
By Buckie Wells
Warner Bros. heard us and has released another Wonder Woman trailer. While there isn’t a ton of new footage, it does have sick music and action sequences.
If you haven’t noticed, there’s been an outcry from Wonder Woman fans all over the place demanding why Warner Bros. has been so stingy with footage. While they’ve spent plenty, they haven’t exactly put the brand out as much as they should. What makes this truth so particularly unfortunate is that Wonder Woman looks so good.
And I’m not saying that as a biased woman who loves Diana of Themyscira. I’m actually saying that from a business standpoint and someone who knows what gets the internet riled up. Fortunately, the newest trailer, which was released during an episode of Gotham (a DC Comics show on Fox) has an incredible mixture of what people tend to want from their superhero films: laughter and action.
Because we all know that Batman v. Superman seriously dropped the ball on both, it makes Wonder Woman‘s efforts all the more obvious. Any comics fan knows that Wonder Woman is one of the best fighters in all of comics. But these trailers diligently demonstrate the amount of love that’s obviously been poured into crafting her action sequences.
(There’s a chance we’re also seeing all the movie has to offer, but I doubt it.)
Check out the latest Wonder Woman trailer below to see what I mean:
Every element of this film is spot on. Chris Pine’s charm and humor? Check. Great action sequences and visual effects? Check and check. Gal Gadot in a role that she was obviously born to play? Cheeeccck.
Now, let’s break that down a little bit. In addition to this story that nails down Diana’s origins, we have Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor ushering her to London during World War I. But he’s not just an escort, he’s genuinely intrigued and amused by her background. Likewise, we have Etta Candy, who isn’t there to compete with Diana in any which way. There’s no hint of jealousy or catty competitiveness there, as films with more than one woman tend to depict.
And of course, there’s Diana. As a demigod, she can call lightning from the sky. While’s she’s powerful, Wonder Woman quickly underscores that she’s loving, compassionate and just as well. Not only does Gadot sell the slide and kick, but her face seems both hard and soft. You know what I mean? Like, her face alone shows how badass and also generous Diana is.

Every single shot in this trailer is beautiful. The colors are gorgeous. Themyscira legitimately looks like paradise. Then to juxtapose that with London looking like a literal steaming garbage heap? Tremendous. I love it all.
Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2.
