CBS Says Goodbye To One Of Its Finest Comedies With So Help Me Todd Cancellation
CBS is letting a good one get away as it has decided not to bring back its mystery comedy series So Help Me Todd for a third season. The show followed Margaret Wright helping her son Todd find his footing again after a career flopping event forced him to have to start his life all over again.
CBS is home to some of the biggest and most successful shows on network television. However, even though So Help Me Todd walks the line of comedy and drama, never being too serious for an hour-long drama, it still deserves a place among the network's airtime schedule.
So Help Me Todd is a family story at heart. Rather than focussing on romance or action, this quirky series is captivating due to the relationships between its main familial connections of Margaret, Todd, and Allison. Immersing oneself in the delights of a dysfunctional family, and how they balance their personal and professional relationships, along with how massive life changes impact how they handle what comes next in their lives, all play a signficant role in the show and act as significant stories.
While Elsbeth may be taking up the helm of the quirky mystery comedy hour-long series on CBS, that does not mean that the network can not be home to two shows that thrive on a more light-hearted approach to mysteries.
Allowing there to be shows that do not rely too heavily on dark drama, can be a breath of fresh air to audiences that see a relatable dynamic in the Wright family and the ups and downs of their personal and professional lives.
Sadly, the show's viewer ratings numbers were not enough to save this show that had carved a place in the hearts of its audience, especially as the revelation came too late for So Help Me Todd to salvage an attempt at giving its central characters closure.
