You are the owner of yourself and the world ladies, as I-DLE would want you to have as your core value in life. The women in this group know first-hand what it is like to fight the world for change. And, together they want us join them in their mission to promote the message of self-love, female empowerment, and self-acceptance.
Everyday they make it their goal in life to challenge traditional K-Pop idol stereotypes and embrace an image that changes what was ingrained into our system. Soyeon, Minnie, and Yuqi participate in writing and producing their own music - giving them more ownership and agency over their messages. Through this special ability, their messages of self-love come authentically from their hearts to their listeners.
Focusing their power in the female gaze and through sisterhood - they showcase women in everything they produce. This method is prevalent through lyrics, music videos, and even art work. In fact, the lyric "I NEVER DIE" in "Super Lady" directly addresses the group's survival after a setback - reinforcing their message of strength and resilience for women who can come out on top no matter what. The music video "NXDE" is a direct retaliation to the objectification of women that men often put on us. Therefore, putting a new spin on the title that is used for the music video. The artwork for the "Queencard" box set, designed by Soyeon herself, included a pouch for menstral pads, highlighting their support for women's health and well-being. These methods enforces us to come together as humans in a society that already deems us as objects of desire.
Their mission does not just end there, because on May 2nd, 2025 - (G)I-DLE became I-DLE. Initially the "(G)" was added to differentiate the group's meaning "children" in Korean from the English meaning of "IDLE" which can be associated with laziness. Though, they are group that represents loving yourself for the whole room. So, the group dropped the "(G)" to reestablish their identity as a group that is better than the stereotypes that others may place on them based on their own perspective of misunderstanding.
Turn up the volume of their song, and sing as loud for the world to hear you. Everyone needs to know we are taking over the world. So, let the beautiful process continue by enforcing the message for I-DLE being the Idols for women.
