Blue Christmas...duh by Megan Moroney: All 3 tracks ranked
If there's one artist I couldn't get enough of in 2024, it was Megan Moroney. Whether it was her singles ahead of Am I Okay? or her previous album: Lucky, it's clear this emo cowgirl captured hearts.
Whether you love her for her music, her looks, her personality or a mixture of everything, she's become a favorite artist for many. That's why it was so awesome to see her releasing a holiday EP for 2024.
Entitled Blue Christmas...duh, the EP features 3 Christmas-themed tracks from Moroney including 2 original tracks and one cover. No doubt you can guess which song Megan decided to cover on this EP but if not, we'll be discussing it in a second.
For those wanting something new from our favorite emo cowgirl, then let's talk about Blue Christmas...duh and rank the 3 tracks from her holiday project for 2024.
Blue Christmas...duh by Megan Moroney ranked
There are some really incredible holiday albums from our favorite country stars so it's exciting to see Megan Moroney join the club. She's easily one of country's hottest stars and everyone is showing her love, no matter where she goes. We can only hope that this trend continues beyond the holiday season.
Either way since this EP is such a fun one and has two original tracks from Megan Moroney, let's get into ranking.
3. "All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy"
Coming in at the #3 spot on the list is the first track from the EP which is "All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy." As far as flirty Christmas songs go, this is such a fun one. It's basically Megan asking Santa to drop a cowboy at her house. This isn't a bad song, but it doesn't seem to fit the vibe of the rest of the EP.
Regardless, it's one that is sure to be played by many Megan fans this year who can relate. If anything, I wish "All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy" would have been either the second or third track. It just feels weird to open with a happy song and then immediately go into two more melancholy songs. It isn't a bad song but just not my favorite between the three.
2. "Christmas Morning"
Moving to my #2 pick, it's none other than Megan's other original song on the album which is "Christmas Morning." While the song's title gives you an idea, this song is truly unlike anything you're imagining. Most of us think of a happy and fun song yet this one is more melancholic and pretty sad.
Essentially, the song is talking about how a relationship is getting to its end and you don't feel like that same Christmas morning feeling with your partner anymore. While it's a sad feeling, it does go with Megan's emo-cowgirl vibe. Additionally, there are definitely some people out there who can relate to this song.
1. "Blue Christmas"
Last but not least, the top song from Blue Christmas...duh is "Blue Christmas." While normally I'd pick an original song, Megan Moroney made "Blue Christmas," her own and I'm here for it. Her voice just sounds so angelic on this one and it has that deep longing some singers can't muster. While this was no doubt a huge undertaking for Moroney, she absolutely killed it.
On the whole, Blue Christmas...duh is such a great EP and a perfect way to end 2024 for Megan Moroney. Whether you're craving that Blue Christmas feeling or just want more Megan Moroney, then you need to give this EP a listen.
