Crafting a romance series is no easy feat. Whether it’s interconnected standalone stories, a larger arc, or following the same couple, yet Alexis Daria makes it look easy.

That’s why it was so exciting to be able to get an ARC of Daria’s latest release: Along Came Amor. As the final book in the Primas of Power series, this is one I had been eagerly anticipating and had been holding on to for months.

Thankfully, I was able to pick up the second book, A Lot Like Adios, before picking it up, so I had a refresher on everything. Unlike the previous two books, though, Along Came Amor had a brevity to it that felt like something entirely new from Daria.

I’d like to thank HarperCollins for sending me an ARC of this one, as it was the perfect read to round out my April TBR and made me want to read the rest of Alexis Daria’s backlist.

Along Came Amor is an emotional yet unforgettable romance.

If you’ve been following along with the Primas of Power series, we all knew that Ava was getting her own book. How it was going to work was unclear, but Alexis Daria did her thing on this one. We’re following Ava, who is fresh off a divorce and is looking to make a change and be a more authentic version of herself.

She starts by going to the bar and flirting with a handsome stranger. Roman isn’t just any man, though. He owns the hotel she’s staying in, and it’s clear that the two have an immediate connection. Due to her divorce, Ava isn’t eager to jump into anything despite how much Roman is into her, so the two end up with a booty-call situation.

At first, things are great as Ava goes to Roman when she needs him, until they start getting even more intertwined. Ava ends up being her cousin’s maid of honor while Roman is the groom’s best man. From there, it’s a race against their feelings and trying to figure out their relationship without ruining what they’ve built in the process.

Of all the books in the series, Along Came Amor is the most emotional, but not without good reason. Ava is trying to put herself back together after her divorce, but she also has to deal with a meddling family who can’t seem to give her the space or peace she wants. As a people pleaser to her core, Ava already has a hard time saying no, and adding Roman into the mix doesn’t make it any easier on her.

To put it simply, Ava’s family will make you want to pull your hair out, snuggle her up in a blanket, and make sure she’s safe. Basically, you end up feeling like Roman, and that’s why I think this book is so impactful. There is something so relatable in the way Ava deals with things, and that’s why I loved seeing her get her HEA. She had done so much for everyone else, and she was finally getting something for herself.

As you might imagine, Alexis Daria absolutely smashed it out of the park with this series. If you’re looking for a new romance series to dive into, then try out the Primas of Power. The books are all interconnected yet feature different tropes and storylines. Additionally, her writing is so easy to get into that you’ll be breezing through it before you know it.

Along Came Amor by Alexis Daria is out now where books are sold.
