The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a popular tradition. Since 1924, the famous department store has hosted the holiday parade.

Every year, the parade goes all out with its balloons, floats, and entertainment acts. 2023 promises to be another big year. According to the official Macy’s website, there’s a huge lineup that includes 31 floats.

Here are 5 floats to keep an eye out for during this year’s broadcast.

5. Mutant Mayhem is a new float for the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Most of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade floats are known for being cute and sweet. But one new addition to the 2023 lineup has the opposite vibe.

Mutant Mayhem is inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The float features a replica of New York City covered in slime and being destroyed by Superfly Bebop and Rocksteady. But luckily the crime-fighting reptiles make an appearance to save the day.

4. Palace of Sweets

Thanksgiving is a time to indulge in our favorite sweets. Brach’s Palace of Sweets float will have everyone’s sugar cravings in high gear.

The float features a giant gingerbread house decorated with the candy company’s famous treats. A colorful Christmas tree with Brach’s signature purple color completes the decor of this delightful masterpiece.

3. The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka

The latest remake in the iconic Willy Wonka franchise, starring Timothee Chalamet hits theaters Dec. 15, 2023. But the studios are already getting a headstart on the promotion.

The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka is a new addition to this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. It showcases a delectable and colorful look at the famous Wonka chocolate factory. The decor includes an elegant gate, which opens up into a wonderland that includes a tall cherry tree, a flowing river, and illuminated flowers.

2. Tom Turkey

Thanksgiving isn’t complete without turkey and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is bringing back its famous Tom Turkey float. Since 1973, this float has been a main staple of the parade as it leads the way down the streets of New York.

The giant turkey is dressed to the nines for Thanksgiving with his Pilgrim hat. Perched atop the float, Tom Turkey flaps his wings and bobbles his head as bystanders look on. A group of dancers accompany Tom Turkey on his journey to entertain the holiday crowd.

1. Santa’s Sleigh

No holiday parade is complete without an appearance from the jolly man in the red suit. Santa makes his long-awaited at the end of the parade in his signature sleigh to greet the good boys and girls.

Santa’s Sleigh is a long-running float in the Macy’s parade and this year will be just as spectacular. The design has Santa’s reindeer pulling his sleigh as he leaves his home in the North Pole to deliver gifts. This float features all the elements of Christmas and will surely get everyone into the holiday spirit.
