The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition in many households. There is just something so fun and nostalgic about it.

Whether you’re enjoying your holiday with family, friends, or other people you love, it’s a nice way to spend the morning. No matter if you’re snuggled up in your pajamas, making cookies, or putting the turkey in the oven, the parade is always there.

Of course, the parade does air from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm so there are plenty of sights and sounds to enjoy. The parade is most famously known for its huge balloons of popular characters and fixtures within pop culture.

In honor of that, I wanted to share the 7 new balloons being featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for 2023.

These 7 balloons are new to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

There is a mix of some new and old favorites who are new to the parade so let’s break down some you’ll be seeing for the first time. First up is Beagle Scout Snoopy. While Snoopy isn’t a newcomer to the parade, he has been there in many different iterations which makes him a staple character yet it’s always fun to see what form he returns in.

Keeping with the animal theme, the next three are ones I’m surprised haven’t appeared before. In the air, we’re going to be seeing Blue Cat & Chugs which is an NFT character and that shocks me but we’ll see how it goes. Then there’s Kung Fu Panda’s Po in honor of Kung Fu Panda 4 coming out in 2024 and Leo who is the titular character in an upcoming Adam Sandler-Netflix film.

Since One Piece has gotten so much buzz this year, it only makes sense that Monkey D. Luffy would make an appearance. Whether you’re a fan of the anime or of the Netflix series, you’ll be able to see the fearless leader in the air. Another movie-themed balloon coming to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is Uncle Dan who is a character in Illumination’s Migration which is about a group of ducks who go on an unlikely vacation.

Last but not least, we have a classic character that all of us love and recognize. That’s the Pillsbury Dough Boy. I feel like Pillsbury is such a staple of holiday cooking so it only makes sense for the brand’s mascot to earn a spot in the parade for 2023.
