With the weather getting chilly and the fireplace ambiance crackling in the background, Christmas is in the air. That’s why I’m so excited to share this recent study that was done by mypokercoaching.

In honor of the holiday season, the team set to figure out the most popular filming locations for some of our favorite Christmas films. I mean there are so many to choose from but honestly, the answer is somewhat surprising.

While the top answer might not surprise you, the top 5 might not be what you’re thinking because a few of these locations did surprise me. If you’re a Christmas lover, I’m sure you’ll want to know this info or at least be able to point out some movies you can think of.

Either way, I wanted to share this study as a way to spread some early holiday cheer but hopefully, convince you to queue up your favorite movie to watch during the holiday season.

While I’ve included the graphic above, I wanted to break down the top 5 and share some of the films you might recognize. The top spot on the list unsurprisingly goes to California which has a whopping 29 films under its belt. Some of the best flicks filmed in California were National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Holiday, Four Christmases, and Last Holiday. I mean, can you say modern classics?!

Moving onto the next highest is Utah which is home to 11 films including Christmas Under Wraps, Cranberry Christmas, and Crown for Christmas. New York is always a popular choice for holiday films which puts it at #3 with 7 films. Some of those films include It’s A Wonderful Life, Scoorged, Miracle on 34th Street and Elf. Connecticut takes the #4 spot with 4 films with the most popular being The Family Stone.

Then in 5th place is Ilinois which also has 4 films which honestly is almost too good to be. The films are Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Fred Claus, and Christmas with the Kranks. Even though it’s only 4 films, that’s pretty freaking amazing. You can see the full chart above but I’d love to know if you were surprised by these results or not.
