Britney Spears’ memoir, The Woman In Me, became a bestseller one day after it dropped on bookshelves and Amazon. The memoir contains personal reflections, revelations, and truths from the pop singer, who thanked her fans for making the bestseller happen.

When Britney Spears rose to prominence in 1998 with her debut album, Baby, One More Time, little did we know that she would be a global phenomenon. Spears continuously topped the music charts with her singles, dominated the TRL video countdowns, and performed sold-out concerts. With her growing popularity came product endorsements, dolls, and even a fragrance line that her immense fanbase absorbed.

As a Britney fan since those early days, I witnessed firsthand all of her successes as well as her downfalls, and I must emphasize with the latter that Spears is human, as we all are. It’s very easy to forget that because celebrities are in the limelight, and everything they do or say is reflected in them. Therefore, we shouldn’t judge until we’re walking in their shadows.

While this lifestyle is typically the norm for a famous singer, for Britney, it also caused plenty of trauma and media scrutiny. The latter was challenging because the discourse was more on her personal life than on her professional one.

Spears dropped a major bombshell in her memoir regarding her heartwrenching abortion with her ex, NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake. She recalls how Timberlake “didn’t want to be a father,” and if the decision were entirely up to her, she “wouldn’t have done it.”
