The American Boyfriend is a deliciously twisted read
Online dating is a gamble and everyone knows it. That’s exactly why I was so excited about The American Boyfriend by Ivy Ngeow.
Aside from being an upcoming release, this one was on my radar for a while. I’d like to thank Penguin Random House India & Southeast Asia for sending me an early copy and for being so patient.
With that being said, I wanted to include it in its own feature before release which for the US is September 19, 2023. Getting to read it early was such a treat and a very eye-opening experience for me and it really broadened my horizons when it comes to my reading which I always appreciate.
If you’re excited about The American Boyfriend by Ivy Ngeow, this one is going to be a captivating one as fall hits.
The American Boyfriend by Ivy Ngeow is a delightfully twisty read.
As I mentioned, I’d like to thank Penguin Random House India & Southeast Asia for sending me an early copy. The American Boyfriend is about Phoebe Wong who is visiting her long-distance boyfriend on holiday in Key West, Florida from London. She’s not alone though as she’s traveling with her daughter: Jojo.
Things seem too good to be true as Phoebe is getting to spend a relaxing time with Carter, her boyfriend. Of course, as with most thrillers, he’s late and Phoebe is stuck. At this vacation home, she’s dealing with weird noises, tall tales from neighbors, and a boyfriend who keeps getting pulled away as something happens.
The American Boyfriend is such a fun and entertaining read that you’ll be captivated within the first few pages. From there, you won’t be able to put it down and I speak from experience as I read this one in two sittings. In a way, I felt like Phoebe, trying to piece everything together and feeling helpless at times.
Personally, I think this would be an amazing beach read yet since it’s coming out in September, it hits that sweet spot. It’s coming out before Halloween and right as fall begins so it’s going to be a popular one in that regard. While the cover is incredibly summery, it has the ultimate spooky vibes you’re looking for in September and October.
If you’re a first-time reader of Penguin Random House India & Southeast Asia, then I’d recommend starting off with The American Boyfriend by Ivy Ngeow. If that’s not your vibe, then be sure to come back to Culturess as we’re going to be featuring more titles from Penguin Random House India & Southeast Asia this fall.
