The popular, long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives is generating attention for the latest behind-the-scenes drama. Last week, news broke that the show’s co-executive producer and director Albert Alarr was being investigated for creating a toxic work environment.

The allegations state that Alarr verbally abuses the cast, makes inappropriate comments, and makes unwanted advances to women. After an investigation by Sony Pictures Television, Alarr was given a warning and ordered to undergo training.

The fact that Alarr still has a job isn’t going over well with the cast, who is taking action.

Days of Our Lives cast are calling for Albert Alarr to be fired

The Alarr scandal is a hot topic in the soap opera community and is gaining mainstream attention. Many of the show’s former stars, including Lisa Rinna, have come forward to talk about their own experiences and called for Sony to fire Alarr.

With Alarr still employed, the toxic work environment continues at the Peacock series. But the cast is taking matters into their own hands. According to Deadline, a petition has been signed by 25 cast members, who are asking that Alarr be replaced.

In the petition, the cast talks about the unsafe conditions created by Alarr.  “Many of us feel – and will continue to feel – very uncomfortable and distraught should he stay involved with the show. Many of us have either been physically or verbally violated by him, including witnessing those objectionable and offensive actions.”

The petition concluded with the cast asking for a new replacement director and producer. “We all want to make the most of this significant moment, not just for us in entertainment, but for our loyal viewers and the culture as a whole.”

Currently, Days of Our Lives is on a one-week hiatus because of the scandal. Filming is set to resume on August 7th, and one has to wonder if there will be any changes to the workplace.
