What to expect of Carrie and Aidan’s relationship in And Just Like That…?
Season 2 of And Just Like That… is almost here. The HBO Max series is generating a lot of buzz with the return of a few Sex and the City characters. One notable character who’ll make their presence known is Aidan Shaw, Carrie Bradshaw’s ex-fiancé.
The handsome and kind furniture designer first appeared in Season 3 of Sex and the City and immediately swept Carrie off her feet. Yet, the couple’s relationship was tested by Carrie’s ex Mr. Big.
After Carrie cheated on Aidan with Big, the couple broke up. But in Season 4 the couple reunites and becomes engaged. However, their engagement ends when Carrie isn’t ready to commit to marriage.
In Season 6, Carrie bumps into Aidan on the street and learns he married a woman named Kathy and has a son named Tate. Carrie eventually goes on to marry Big, but she and Aidan cross paths in the Sex and the City 2 film. During a trip to Abu Dhabi, Carrie is surprised to run into Aidan.
The exes have a friendly dinner where they catch up, but the evening takes an unexpected turn when they kiss. Carrie confessed the kiss to Big and he forgave her. As for Aidan, well, it’s unknown what happened to him.
And Just Like That… will show a new side to Carrie and Aidan’s relationship
Last season, Carrie became a widow after Big died of a heart attack. Season 2 of And Just Like That… will see her try to move on and get back into the dating game. Carrie’s chance at love comes when she reunites with Aidan.
According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Michael Patrick King revealed that like Carrie, Aidan is also single.
"“The story is they’re open for business. They’re both single. You know how she’s single. You don’t know how Aidan’s single.”"
With Carrie and Aidan both back on the market, it’s time for the exes to start fresh and give their relationship another shot. While Aidan fans are ecstatic to have him back, many aren’t happy about his return.
One of the major criticisms about Aidan is how he tried to change Carrie. But in an interview with The New York Times, John Corbett and Sarah Jessica Parker said the couple’s relationship is different now.
“He’s really listening to her now,” Corbett said of the criticism towards Aidan being controlling. Parker adds that Carrie and Aidan have grown and fans will see that in the couple’s reunion.
"“It’s not fevered; it’s not demanding. There’s so much heat between them, but there isn’t that urgency from him.”"
Fans can watch Carrie and Aidan’s reunion when Season 2 of And Just Like That… premieres on June 22, 2023.
