The Last of Us brings its frightening game play to Halloween Horror Nights
While the HBO series transformed the popular video game into a must-watch television, now The Last of Us brings its terrifying twists and turns to Halloween Horror Nights. In a recent announcement, both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood will allow guests to step into the Naughty Dog and PlayStation game world.
Although Universal’s creative team will never reveal all the nuanced details of the upcoming experience, guests can expect to encounter all the Infected on this path. While Joel and Ellie hope to avoid being overcome by the fungal virus, the path is uncertain. From The Hotel Grand to terrifying tunnels, escape might be fleeting.
According to Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann, “As a massive fan – and frequent attendee – of Halloween Horror Nights, we are honored to have ‘The Last of Us’ included in this year’s lineup. It has been an incredible thrill for us at Naughty Dog to collaborate with Universal, bringing the world of the game to life, and focusing on even the tiniest details that our fans know so well. Having just celebrated the 10th anniversary of ‘The Last of Us,’ it’s a perfect time for our fans to team up with Joel and Ellie and come face-to-terrifying-face with Clickers, Raiders and much more!”
For the past several weeks, Halloween Horror Nights fans have been anxiously awaiting announcements. Although the Chucky house was revealed previously, the other houses, scare zones, and experiences have remained a mystery. Given that there are usually at least 10 houses, multiple scare zones and other offerings, it had had many people wondering when Universal would open the vault to the secrets.
While The Last of Us house will be a huge draw, Halloween Horrors Nights is always a blend of well-known stories as well as original IPs. Sometimes the original stories from the Universal Creative team are even scarier than the well-known horror tales. Just look at previous offerings about the Tooth Fairy or even Dead Man’s Pier. Sometimes the unfamiliar tale captures that sentiment of never going alone in the most terrifying way.
Halloween Horror Nights run at Universal Orlando from Friday, September 1 through October 31 on select nights. The Halloween event at Universal Studios Hollywood runs from Thursday, September 7 through October 31 on select nights. Ticket information, pricing, and other information can be found online.
