There is something so intoxicating about celebrities. It’s even more exciting when they’re featured in romance books.

Looking at a lot of popular romance tropes, no one seems to focus on celebrity romances. Maybe it’s because we’re bombarded with celebrities daily no matter where we go. Even so, there are plenty of romance books with celebrities at the helm.

At times, romances focused on celebrities can be a bit unrealistic for us regular readers. If you’re able to fall into the story and believe the romance, that’s really all that matters. Personally, I don’t always love this trope but I do have a few recommendations to share.

If you’re in the mood for some romance books with celebrities either as the main character or love interest, then these recommendations are perfect for your end-of-year TBR.

These celebrity romance books are good options for an end-of-year TBR.

Let’s start off with the book that inspired this list and that’s The Stand-In by Lily Chu. I’d like to thank the publisher for sending me a finished copy which I read and enjoyed. This book follows Gracie who is a doppelganger for a celebrity and she ends up pretending to be her while also falling for Sam who is Wei Fangli’s fake boyfriend. While the two get off to a rocky start, they eventually get together and it’s so rewarding.

While the romance is great, The Stand-In is one of those books that focuses a lot on the characters, especially Gracie. I love watching Gracie grow and change along with how she and Wei were connected. This book does focus on celebrities but it isn’t over-the-top or annoying which can sometimes happen.

Another 2022 release making my list is You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi. This author has such a vast catalog of books, but this is their first romance book, and what a delight it is. This book follows Feyi who is getting over the loss of her husband who died five years ago and the work trip/vacation she goes on with a guy she’s friends with but the romance she has isn’t with him. I don’t want to say much else, but I just finished this book and I adored it so it had to make the list as the love interest is a celebrity chef.

Rounding out the 2022 recommendations is a new release which is The Stand-Up Groomsman by Jackie Lau. This is the second book in a series but you can read it out-of-order if you don’t mind being spoiled for the first book. However, this book follows Melvin, who is a stand-up comedian, and Vivian who is straight-laced and works in finance The two have a disastrous first meeting but since they’re best friends of the couple from book 1, they’re constantly stuck together.

Once the two are able to talk and work through their differences, their romance develops and these two just have my whole heart and soul. They’re different in so many ways, but complement each other in the best way. If you haven’t read this book yet, you need to either get it from the library or buy it.

Moving onto my final two picks, these are both older titles with the first being Make It Sweet by Kristen Callihan. Kristen Callihan has written a lot of great celebrity romances, but this is one of my favorites. This follows Emma, an actress looking for a break after her character is killed off so she goes to a bed-and-breakfast where she meets Lucian. This book is incredibly cute, and soft and is perfect for a cozy evening. Plus it’s one of Amazon’s “Read and Listens” books if you have Kindle Unlimited.

The last recommendation is Undone by Bryce Oakley. This is an f/f romance between a pop star and a musician who is helping her write songs. The banter between these two is just excellent and it’s also the start of a series, following each member of the band. While the book can be a bit predictable, it’s a quick one and is perfect if you’re looking for something to boost your reading goal for 2022.
