6 original High School Musical stars are making a return

East Side High, are you ready? After much speculation, rumors, and gossip, we finally know which of the original wildcats are making a return to the franchise. Are they who you thought? Are you disappointed? Keep reading to find out who is making a return.

6 original High School Musical stars are making a return

In case you hadn’t heard (or read our previous article), High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is going meta this season. The stars of the current spinoff are set to be working on an onstage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year while the original cast works on High School Musical 4: The Reunion. Being that the two take place at the same school, the characters are going to interact!

However, we hate to tell you not all of the original wildcats are making a return. We’ll rip the bandaid off first and report that Toy Bolton and Gabriella Montez are not making an appearance. Much speculation occurred when Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron were seen at the high school earlier this summer (only weeks apart, too), but the actors will not appear in the fourth season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.  Ashley Tisdale, a central part of the leading cast, will also not be returning.

Now that the official synopsis is out though, we know who is confirmed for the upcoming season!  The current season is currently in production in Utah and Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed, and Kaycee Stroh will play themselves! They will resurrect their High School Musical roles as “Chad Danforth,” “Taylor McKessie,” “Ryan Evans,” “Coach Jack Bolton,” “Ms. Darbus” and “Martha Cox”.

While we don’t know how the characters will interact, we do know their appearances are fully confirmed.  Maybe we’ll be surprised with an actual reunion special (aka HSM4) or maybe we’ll get an appearance from more stars. Whatever the case may be, having some sort of High School Musical reunion is more than we have asked for. And while there is no official release day, make sure to keep tuning in for more news!
