In a year where Latin music has transcended cultures, the Latin Grammys are finally here with many heavyweights scoring nominations. Nominations for the 23rd Latin GRAMMY Awards have just been announced with the Latin GRAMMYs telecast set to air live on Univision on November 17, beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT.  The 2022 Latin GRAMMYs will return to Las Vegas at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino with a big night set to take place. Let’s break down the nominations.

Breaking down the 2022 Latin Grammy Nominations

Christina Aguilera scored seven nominations with three of the nominations being in the big four categories. We announced a few months ago that her ninth studio album would be in Spanish (with it being her first Spanish album in 22 years). Soon after the album, Aguilera was released to positive reviews on May 31, 2022. The album features collaborations with Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Ozuna.

Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti was the biggest No. 1 debut of 2022 and it shows in the nominations. The reggaeton artist scores the most nominations with 10 nominations in the following categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Urban/Fusion Performance, Best Reggaeton Performance, and Best Urban Music Album.

Some individual songs that took over the music scene also scored nominations.  Becky G and Karol G‘s song “MAMIII,” was nominated for Best Urban Song. Even though the song landed the fourth spot on Billboard‘s Global 200 chart and was number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, it was the only category it scored a nomination in. The Weekend also scored his second Latin Grammy nomination for his feature on Rosalía‘s “La Fama”.

Other top nominees include Rauw Alejandro and Rosalía with eight nominations. Rosalía is the top female nominee this year.
