In the second episode of Stargirl’s Frenemies season, it was all about the “who dunnit” aspect of The Gambler’s murder. And that means dealing with what feels like an endless list of suspects and some serious anger issues.

Of course, the majority of the anger issues came from Sylvester, aka Starman. While we often think of Joel McHale for his comedy, when it comes to his role as Starman, it is clear that he has some serious range. However, at this point (even if it is quite early on in Stargirl‘s third season) what we have gotten out of our former hero is anger and an inability to let the past go.

And while we can understand the fact that coming back from the dead has to be traumatizing, as well as the fact that you know that most of your friends died at your side, there is something wrong with Starman. The level of anger he is displaying is almost next level and there is something in his eyes that makes us think he is five seconds away from snapping (and not necessarily on a bad guy).

Stargirl is taking on a murder mystery in its third season and there are a lot of Frenemies to deal with

Beyond Starman’s issues, there are also trust issues surrounding Cindy and the rest of the Justice Society of America (JSA). While Courtney/Stargirl wants to give basically everyone a second chance, the rest of the team is less than thrilled with Cindy being part of the crew.

And of course, finding Cindy standing over the body of The Gambler with the literal smoking gun in her hand certainly doesn’t help the trust. When the JSA shares the news that the Gambler’s laptop is missing and whoever has it is likely the killer, it actually sets the stage for the scene where we see Cindy opening up the dead man’s laptop in her creepy secret lair.

The problem with Cindy and the JSA is that to go along with that distrust is a healthy dose of anger. Not only does Cindy have anger issues, but it really feels like members of the JSA are angry at the situation and the fact that they feel forced to work with someone who basically tried to kill them.

Honestly, a lot of the anger, in this case, makes perfect sense. But at the same time, it definitely doesn’t do the team any favors.

And on top of the anger issues that seem to abound in this “idyllic” town, we also have a lot of suspects for who might have killed The Gambler. Was it Cindy? Was it The Shade? Was it someone from The Gambler’s old crew? There is any number of people who might have wanted this “reformed” villain dead, and at this point, there are just not enough clues as to who it could have been.

But what do you think of this season of Stargirl so far? Are you enjoying the murder mystery aspect of the season? Who do you think the killer is?

Next. Roswell New Mexico gave Michael and Alex a beautiful ending. dark
