Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin: “A” is finally revealed
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin concluded its first season in a fashion the Freeform drama would never have dared: It revealed the identity of “A.”
Rather than have the audience wait to learn who “A” really is, “Final Girls” manages to explain the mystery behind the mask and the truth about what happened to Angela Waters in 1999.
Imogen, Tabby, Noa, Faran, and Mouse suspected that “A” was somehow connected to Angela Waters and their mothers. But who would stalk them and threaten their lives? Why? Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin finally explains the truth about what the Liars’ mothers had done to Angela and how it resulted in “A.”
Imogen’s mother, Davie, had poorly reacted when Angela revealed that Davie’s boyfriend, Tom Beasley, had sexually assaulted her. Instead of listening to Angela, Davie turned against her and encouraged the other girls to do the same. But, Davie wanted to take it one step further and had the entire student body ignore Angela, effectively erasing her from Millwood High School.
So, who wanted to avenge Angela? The Liars are horrified to discover that their school principal, Marshall Clanton, had been Angela’s father and that he had been the mastermind behind “A.” “A,” the masked killer, had been Marshall’s son Archie, Angela’s twin.
But, Tom Beasley was not going to escape a worse fate. He was blamed for everything Marshall and Archie did.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin does the work to answer all loose ends, creating an ending to the season that does not result in many unanswered questions. “Final Girls” reveals who had raped Tabby and Imogen, as well as not letting Tom Beasley get away with all of his horrible behavior and actions throughout the season. Noa’s mother even admits her plan to go to rehab.
As an acknowledgment of the connection to Rosewood, Imogen even reveals that her baby will be adopted by the Rosewood couple, Aria and Ezra.
But, just because Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin answers all of its central questions by the season finale, that does not mean there are no teases to what could come next. By the conclusion of “Final Girls,” Archie is still alive and killing. So, what does that mean for the Liars?
