What we know about Beyonce’s Renaissance

It has been six years since multi-platinum artist Beyonce launched a new album.  Her last album, Lemonade, dropped in 2016, was a record-smash, and gained several awards.  In 2022, Queen Bey will finally unveil her anticipated album, Renaissance.  Here is what we know about the launch and its first track.

Beyonce’s new album will be titled ‘Renaissance.’

Renaissance will be Beyonce’s seventh studio album, following the release of Lemonade.  It’ll contain sixteen new tracks, artwork and will be a blend of different genres, including country and Beyonce’s signature R&B.  It’ll drop July 29th, with presales and streaming pre-adds already happening on her website.  Columbia Records even teased the phrase “act I” on Instagram with the suspicion that Renaissance might be more than just an album.

Back in the summer of 2021, Beyonce shared with Harper’s Bazaar the inspiration behind Renaissance.

"With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible."

Renaissance was Google’s most-searched word.

Fans want to learn everything they can about Beyonce’s latest work, so they took it to Google.  When searching “Renaissance,” results highlighted the European Renaissance.  Throughout the 14th century and ending with the16th, Europe was transitioning from the Middle Ages into modernization.  It was a period where great discoveries were made, and great philosophers speculated about life’s existence.

The word “renaissance” also translated to “rebirth” in French.

Google’s search engine naturally blew up, and because of Beyonce, the quest to find out what Renaissance meant increased more than double.

With Beyonce’s newest musical piece, the title is appropriate as it has been a minute since she released new material.

The new single off Renaissance is ‘Break My Soul.‘

The first single off Renaissance will be Break My Soul, and already, it’s trending on social media.  The song is an anthem to being your authentic self and fighting against life’s odds.  The release came sooner than the original midnight planning, but as it is Juneteeth, why not celebrate with an early reveal?
