The animated Disney series Kim Possible just hit its 20th anniversary.  Series stars Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle sat down with ABC’S Good Morning America  (GMA) on Tuesday morning for a reunion and reminisced on the show’s legacy.

“When was the last time you got beeped?”  Host Michael Strahan asked, reflecting that in the early 2000s, pagers were more common than cellphones and referencing one of the lyrics in the theme song.

“It’s been a while,” Friedle laughs.

The hosts even gifted Romano and Friedle action figures of their respective characters, and according to the actors, the Kim Possible creators, Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, came up with a new scene that not only can be heard by Romano and Friedle in his podcast I Hear Voices but other former cast members as well.  John DiMaggio and Nicole Sullivan joined in on the 20th-anniversary celebration.  The four reprised their roles for the new content, which was exclusively released for the show’s anniversary.

Kim Possible premiered on the Disney Channel back in June 2002 and was an instant success.  The show portrayed a sassy high school cheerleader named Kim Possible (Romano), whose alter-ego is a world-renowned crimefighter.  Her best friend Ron Stoppable (Friedle) and technological prodigy Wade Load (Taj Mowry) are assisting her.  It ran for four seasons and eighty-six episodes, ending in 2007.

During its run and gathering new fans, Kim Possible became an icon as its themes and characters reflected those who watch it.  The theme song holds a special momentum of its own.

For Romano, she finds it “touching,” and Friedle gets excited whenever he sees people cosplay Kim and Ron at conventions.

"“It touches our heart in a very genuine way. We love our fans very much and it’s just really great to engage with them. A lot of people identify with the characters or they helped them come of age and find themselves and we really love honoring that.” –Cristy Carlson Romano on Kim Possible‘s legacy."

All seasons and the 2019 live-action movie can be streamed on Disney+.
