The Nancy Drew spin-off, Tom Swift, has arrived on The CW. And in its premiere episode, we get drama, action, and an actual rescue mission.

When we first met Tom on Nancy Drew, he was searching for something to help him find his missing father. It was an interesting introduction to a character that some people may not have been familiar with. And as we kicked off the adventures of Tom Swift on The CW, we learned more of the backstory of what led him to Nancy and her small town of Horseshoe Bay.

But the thing that really made this premiere one that will have us coming back for more was that they literally kicked things off with a bang. After Tom’s father leaves Earth for Saturn, we get a scene in which we see his ship explode in space. And in his efforts to learn the truth of what happened to his dad, we see Tom deal with the reality that there are times when he is less than grateful for the people in his life.

Tom Swift premieres with a flair that is hard to look away from

However, in his desire to learn the truth of what happened to his father, something interesting (or really quite a few interesting things) happened. We learn that Tom Swift’s father escaped his ship before it blew up. And that means that somewhere in space, his father is waiting to be rescued.

With a politician trying to infiltrate the Swift family for some reason while also watching Tom’s every move, things are getting even more dangerous (and Tom doesn’t even seem to know it).

Basically, Tom Swift is ready to make a statement on The CW., and that statement is one we can’t wait to see.

Not only are we getting a genius inventor with a penchant for fashion on our screens, but we are getting a cast of characters that are fascinating to watch. The fact that we are only one episode into the season says a lot about how good this new series is.

Were there some issues? Yes. But, at the same time, this was the very first episode. It was an introduction for people who didn’t watch Nancy Drew. And it was a chance to see where he started (because yes, we all grow over time, and even in the Nancy Drew episode where he was introduced, he was more mature and helpful than what we saw in the premiere) so that we can see where he ends up as a person.

Next. Here’s why we miss The Originals on The CW. dark

Honestly, we can’t wait to see what comes next, but what do you think? Are you excited to see what happens next on Tom Swift? Was there anything you didn’t like about this episode? What did you like?
