In the Dark latest series to get cancelled by The CW

There won’t be a fifth season of In the Dark on The CW after the network went on a cancellation spree on May 12 that saw seven shows get the boot. And that means that after the fourth season, which premieres on June 6, there won’t be any more of Murphy and her bad decisions to keep us going.

With the news all over Twitter, we turned to TVLine to confirm that the show really was done for. And now that we have that sad news in hand, we can’t help but feel like The CW has truly lost one of their very best shows. In fact, it is hard to deny that this is a show that lives up to the drama and mystery of shows on networks like CBS and NBC.

Over the first three seasons of In the Dark, we watched as Murphy and her friends systematically destroyed their lives. And at the heart of all the bad decisions was Murphy herself.

The CW opts to cancel In the Dark ahead of its fourth season

As we head into the final season of In the Dark, at the very least we have another season of drama and tragedy to look forward to. And while we may hope to see some of these storylines resolved, we also feel like if the series had had the opportunity to make it to the fifth season, we truly would have gotten a series finale that completed the story that began when Murphy refused to stop fighting to learn what really happened to her friend in Season 1.

There is a lot of sadness as we look ahead to what we have left to enjoy when it comes to this series (and at least one other show that also got cancelled at the same time). But at the same time, at least we know not to expect more. At least we know that this is it and Murphy’s story is coming to a close one way or another.
