“California girls we’re unforgettable!”

Katy Perry is back. It has been over a year since Katy released her last album Smile, which gave us singles such as “Never Worn White” and “Daisies”.  While the album and singles received mixed reviews, Katy Perry has announced that she has new music coming. This comes shortly after taking a brief hiatus to raise her newborn daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, with Orlando Bloom. With the industry opening up again after COVID-19 precautions and regulations are being lifted with caution, it is an exciting time to see her return. This is what is expected.

Katy Perry announces new single

Who could forget Katy’s incredible halftime performance at Super Bowl XLIX? Back in 2015, Katy Perry was known for dance-pop hit after hit like “Teenage Dream” and “Firework”. With her new single with Alesso titled “When I’m Gone”, it seems that she will be taking a similar approach.  The single will be released globally on Wednesday, December 29, at 9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET. This coincides with her first night of PLAY, which is her first-ever Las Vegas residency at Resorts World, Las Vegas. With a hiatus taken from the music industry, it is great to have her back!

In a similar fashion to her Super Bowl halftime performance, her music will have a grand stage as the music video for the new single will premiere on January 10 on ESPN at halftime of the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Alesso has also previously collaborated with Liam Payne, Florida Georgia Line, and James Bay for major singles. With such a massive duo, this new single is bound to be a hit! And the new era for Katy Perry is set up to be a great one.
