Lori Loughlin is returning to the popular role of Abigail Stanton that she began in 2014 on When Calls the Heart. Unfortunately, because that series airs on the Hallmark Channel, which isn’t interested in having Loughlin return to Hope Valley, she will be reprising the character on a different series, When Hope Calls which will air on GAC Family beginning December 18th. And that makes many When Calls the Heart fans sad, but the creator and executive producer of the series were happy to see Loughlin on set even if it wasn’t for the original series.

Brian Bird, who is also the executive producer of When Hope Calls, posted a sweet message to his Facebook page about Loughlin’s return and how second chances are “just a better way to live.”

"Taking this photo lifted my heart in so many ways. Offering second chances in this messed up world are just a better way to live. Love seeing Lori Loughlin back on screen as Abigail Stanton… this time in Brookfield and #WhenHopeCalls… coming December 18, 8 pm/6pm ET… only on GAC Family Network and Super Channel Heart & Home in Canada"

The image Bird shared is of Loughlin’s character walking into the Telegraph Office in Brookfield. She’s wearing a purple coat that’s very familiar to WCTH fans and seems pensive. Of course, we won’t know what that is about until December 18th.

GAC Family is giving Lori Loughlin a second chance

And that’s what Bird’s message is all about. Yes, Loughlin broke the law, and she was punished for it. Should her livelihood be withheld from her when she’s served her time? Some people don’t think her punishment was enough, but the court says otherwise. And Loughlin should be allowed to return to work which is why many fans are thanking GAC Family for bringing the beloved character back to life on When Hope Calls.

For now, this doesn’t appear to be an ongoing role for Loughlin, but that could change. Then, if Abigail can’t return to Hope Valley, perhaps her friends from Hope Valley can visit Brookfield as some already have. It wouldn’t be a stretch to have Elizabeth Thornton show up in the town, and fans would rejoice at the two friends together again.
