Nancy Drew dealt with a sleep demon in the latest episode of The CW series. And while many of the things we watched were actually just dreams (and in most cases, nightmares), it was the tease of what Nancy and Ace could be together that proved to be the most exciting and depressing thing of all.

While a lot happened on Nancy Drew in episode 4 “The Demon of Piper Beach,” there were certain moments that really stood out. We got to see Ryan Hudson being great with the kids at the center Ned opened. And we also saw him do his part to save the day when everyone except Bess was trapped in dreams that were about to kill them.

But it was definitely the dream sequence where Nancy and Ace are making out that had us going. Maybe it was just me, but I knew pretty quickly that this wasn’t real. And even knowing it couldn’t be real, it was the kind of teaser that showed us exactly how hot and spicy these two characters could be together.

While Ace’s nightmares/dreams were a lot less sexy time fun and a lot more deadly, for Nancy, it is clear that missing out on the opportunity to tell Ace how she feels is a massive regret. And it is one that she doesn’t see changing anytime soon.

Nancy Drew gave us the perfect dream sequence with Ace and Nancy – sort of

While Nancy Drew might be all about solving mysteries and dealing with the bad people, it is also about relationships and growing up. And whether it was Ryan proving that he is changing and growing as a person or even the way Bess finally stood up for herself and let her friends know that they were not treating her right, this was an episode that gave us everything we love about Nancy Drew and so much more.

They may have teased us with the promise of Nancy and Ace together, but sometimes having to wait makes the story so much stronger. It would be way too easy for these two to end up together now. And honestly, have either of them earned it yet? I would say no. They still need to work for a possible romance. Their friendship itself needs more work, so there is no way that they are ready for more. And we want to see the work.

If Ryan can continue to show massive growth and an ability to listen to others and hear what they are telling them, then maybe it is time to see the same from Nancy. While it seems like she is finally starting to listen and learn, there is still a ways to go before she has proven that she can be in a committed relationship the way we want her to be.
