Four years ago today, Teen Wolf aired its hundredth and final episode on MTV, concluding a popular six-season run. On what was probably a day of mourning for Teen Wolf fans, Paramount+ dropped some shocking news: Teen Wolf is getting its own movie!

Earlier this year, Tyler Posey took to Twitter to call for #MoreTeenWolf, reigniting fans’ excitement for more content after four years. Though, I’m not sure anyone thought it would actually happen,  it seems that Posey’s tweets were more than just teases, they were spoilers.

The film, which is set to drop sometime in 2022, comes from Jeff Davis, the showrunner of the MTV series.

There’s only limited information so far about the project, but the official synopsis reads:

"A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall, no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced."

It’s still unknown who from the original cast will be joining Posey in this film, but with all the teases in the synopsis, fans can hope for quite a few.

For example, Holland Roden’s Lydia Martin might be the Banshee mentioned above. The Werecoyote could be Malia Tate, portrayed by Shelley Hennig. Arden Cho could potentially return as Kitsune Kira Yukimura, and Ryan Kelley could return as Hellhound Jordan Perish.

Of course, fans are also dying to see Dylan O’Brien as Stiles Stilinski back on their screens. His return is highly anticipated, especially after finally becoming one half of the fan-favorite relationship Stydia during the final season.

The film could also see the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Derek Hale (if he’s not too busy being Superman), Colton Haynes’ Jackson Whittemore, and Benjamin Wadsworth’s Alec, who was said by Jeff Davis to represent the future of Scott’s Wolf Pack after the series finale.

Though all of this is just speculation, the film is sure to please fans of the original series, which was a massive success for MTV, and just celebrated the 10-year anniversary of its premiere on June 5, 2021.

Haven’t seen all of Teen Wolf and want to catch up before the premiere? Paramount+ also announced today that Teen Wolf’s entire 100-episode catalog will be available to stream starting in December of this year, just in time to binge it all before the movie drops in 2022.

And if that’s still not enough Jeff Davis content for you, the showrunner will also be adapting the novel Wolf Pack into a series exclusively for Paramount+, which follows a group of teenagers as they navigate the inexplicable connection they share: The blood and bite of a werewolf.
