We already know that Murphy is officially spiraling on In the Dark, but what we didn’t expect was to see her dragging her mother into the mess.

In the Dark is getting out of control when it comes to Murphy and her friends and even former friends being on the run. But we never really thought she would actually call her mom for help. Or that her mom would turn her in to the police.

Murphy’s mother may think she is doing the right thing here, but in some ways it doesn’t feel like she is. We don’t know exactly what all Murphy told her mother, but we do know that it was enough to get her mom to call the police on her.

And then when she ropes in another person to help her, she again doesn’t realize that she is literally just using and discarding people to get what she wants. She is perhaps the worst kind of person, but in a lot of ways we can also understand her desperation.

Murphy’s desperation is leaving a string of victims behind on In the Dark

Murphy’s mother is a mess, hardly sleeping, and knowing that her daughter is in trouble. Murphy’s friends are going to end up in jail because of her and the only thing she cares about is saving Jess. In some ways, we want a friend like Murphy is to Jess, but also she has treated that friend like crap as well.

She pretty much hates her mom and even when she tries to do the right thing, it doesn’t work. It’s hard to be sympathetic when it comes to Murphy, but the fact that we know she is innocent of what the police are coming after her for does make it hard to want to see her stopped. We want her to save Jess. We want her to be vindicated. But, we also want to see her stop using and abusing the people in her life.

And while she may have escaped the police this time, by the end of the episode, we know things are about to explode.
