The long awaited trailer is here for Amazon Prime’s The Wheel of Time series and my goodness is it epic. The Dark One is coming and only their power can save them – but will it be enough? The teaser is promising a whole lot of action coming our way.

For those unaware, the series is based on the popular high fantasy books by James Oliver Rigney Jr. (pen name Robert Jordan). Initially launched in1990 with the novel called The Eye of the World, the series went on to encompass14 novels and one prequel. Unfortunately, Rigney died in 2007, leaving author Brandon Sanderson to complete his work.

As for Amazon’s take, fans are gearing up in excitement to see their favorite characters come to life on screen for the first time. Well, that’s a slight lie. In fact, there was a failed pilot of the series starring Max Ryan and Billy Zane. However, this will likely be the adaptation the fans of the novels deserve.

The trailer starts with a voiceover from Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), reading a quote from the books. We’re given a quick introduction to the lives of the five young men and women whose lives are about to change from quiet village life into a fight for their lives.

We’re also introduced to the Aes Sedai, a powerful group of women who protect their world by wielding the power of their unnamed land – some may know it as magic. In order to stop the Dark One from ruling over their world, they must find the “Dragon Reborn”.

The official synopsis reads:

"Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity."

The show will be six episodes long but never fret, it has already been renewed for a second season! Whatever happens now, there’s no turning back.
